Across two days in September, one of our super supporters Silvia completed her 50km Shropshire Hills walking challenge.
Silvia was diagnosed with breast cancer one week after her 50th birthday. “I had lots of fun things planned for the year, but about a week after my birthday, I got diagnosed with breast cancer. Suddenly it wasn’t so much fun,” she told us. “The world stopped for a while but then I decided that life needs to carry on as usual and I will keep doing most of the things I wanted to do, despite not being quite 100%.”
Despite going through treatment and surgery, Silvia decided that she wanted to take on 50km in the Shropshire Hills to raise money for Against Breast Cancer, and so she did! Silvia’s friend very kindly arranged the route for her, including many hills and a few pubs, and she was joined by friends and family along the route.
Even the weather could not dampen spirits, getting caught in a Sunday afternoon downpour did not stop the team from continuing and completing the challenge and raising over £600 along the way!
“It was such a laugh and a really great atmosphere; I am still buzzing from it and would do it all over again.”

“Silvia is truly an inspiration to us all, what a challenge and what an incredible lady,” Richard Martin, Events Manager at Against Breast Cancer said.
