Perfect conditions greeted our walkers for this year’s Breast Walk Ever Oxfordshire on Sunday. The sun shone all day, and with a lovely breeze to help, all participants completed their walking challenge by 5.45pm, a Breast Walk Ever record! There was even time to get everything packed away before the heavens opened shortly after – a lucky escape we were most grateful for.
All were welcomed back to the finish with a well-earned medal, a glass of fizz and a massage for those who wanted it. There were even special medals for all the dogs too!
Nearly £20,000 has been raised thus far from the event with funds going towards ground-breaking research into secondary spread breast cancer, the main cause of breast cancer-related deaths.
The feedback received has been incredibly positive with many walkers enjoying the hospitality both out on the course and at the finish:
An amazing route and very picturesque. It was very well thought out and accessible.
I’m so glad I took part. I was humbled by all those people we passed whilst walking who shared their own stories, cheered us on and who gave a donation. Such a worthy cause.
Refreshment stops are always run by lovely people Start and finish team are very motivating. Good signage along the way
I don’t have a cancer story but I truly loved being part of the walk with such inspiring people. I wanted to walk, wanted to give and wanted to be with a group of like-minded people. It was a lovely afternoon and I felt a part of something ‘bigger’.
Big thanks to Kim Gardner and Kelly Rogers for providing complimentary massages for the weary walkers. And to David Chalk for supplying the fantastic event photography as ever. Photos from the day can be found on our Breast Walk Ever Facebook page.
Plans continue for the Breast Walk series for 2025 with the Hampshire walk confirmed for Sunday 8th of June. Please keep an eye on the Breast Walk Ever website and the social channels for further details.
