Thank you so much to Steph Harrison and her wonderful Charity Angels team for putting on a quite magnificent fashion show at the Bat and Ball Centre in Sevenoaks on Saturday 28th September.
Nine models, all with lived experience of breast cancer, took to the catwalk to show off various stunning clothing lines. Accompanied by famous soundtracks, the ladies modelled everything from sports clothing and beachwear to lingerie and business attire.
This was not just a night to show off the clothes, it was an opportunity to celebrate life itself. Something wonderfully summarised by event organiser, Steph Harrison:
“Nine beautiful women took to the catwalk, to show that there is life after breast cancer. The overriding emotion on the night was laughter and hope and my thanks have to go to the models, our sponsors, the volunteers and everyone who came to support the event. Because of them we raised £13,548 for Against Breast Cancer, a charity we are honoured to support.”
Who are Charity Angels?
Founded in 2021, Charity Angels was created by those who previously made up the fundraising Committee for Breast Cancer Care’s annual fashion show in London. Following the merger of Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now, the committee made the collective decision to form an organisation to support smaller breast cancer charities and local initiatives.
Shortly after forming, Charity Angels held a “Lunch for Lesley” in honour of Lesley Seville, a member of their former Breast Cancer Care’s fashion show committee and a model in a show they organised in 2008. Lesley had contracted secondary breast cancer and passed away in 2020. The event raised over £50,000 for two charities including Against Breast Cancer.
From 2022 onwards, Charity Angels have raised funds exclusively for Against Breast Cancer. Hosting various fashion shows in both Dorchester, Dorset and Sevenoaks, Kent as well as various receptions and cruising events in London and Henley respectively.
Well in excess of £100,000 now raised towards our research!
Against Breast Cancer’s Head of Fundraising, Richard Martin was privileged to be invited along to the fashion show that hosted around 100 guests:
“What an inspiring evening. The models were fantastic, their energy on the catwalk created a wonderful atmosphere of joy and celebration. Steph did an outstanding job in bringing it all together, the entertainment was also first class as was the venue and hospitality. A quite brilliant event.”
Special thanks to Manak Solicitors, Specsavers Sevenoaks and Sevenoaks Medical Centre, Tandem Catering who provided the wonderful canapés, the brilliant magician Bob Pound and also the fantastic photographers Gina Smith and Julie Wilkinson.
A selection of photos from the evening can be accessed here, whilst the video produced by Manak Original Films below can provide even more of a flavour of the evening.
Charity Angels’ attention now shifts to the Army and Navy Club in London where they are hosting a dinner for 100 guests on Wednesday 4th December.
