On Sunday 23rd June 2024 our amazing Sports Ambassador Karen Arney and her good friend Francesca hosted the second ever Well Wellow 10K. The weather was perfect and the setting idyllic as nearly 80 runners took to the various trails of rural West Hampshire.
Karen was delighted with the way the community once again came together to support:
“Although this was only the second year we have run this event, the support has been fabulous,” she told us. “Our aim was to raise money for Against Breast Cancer, a charity close to our hearts, whilst promoting health and wellbeing through exercise. I’m pleased to say, I think we achieved this!”
Around 25 children also participated in the junior run, ensuring that the Well Wellow 10K event served the community as a way to get together and get active.
With the assistance of a few local friends – many of whom are members of the local running club, Halterworth Harriers – Karen and Francesca once again delivered another outstanding event. Our senior fundraising manager, Richard Martin attended on the day:
“An event so well supported by the local community, with such a wonderfully laid back and welcoming feel to it. It was an honour to be invited down to such a beautiful corner of Hampshire”

Over £1000 has been raised from an event that continues to raise the profile of Against Breast Cancer close to the University of Southampton, where a significant part of our research takes place.
Karen has been a long-time supporter of the charity, contributing to various blogs and supporting both Breast Walk Ever events for the past few years in both Oxfordshire and Hampshire. As well as organising the Well Wellow 10K last year, Francesca raised funds for Against Breast Cancer whilst completing the Speyside 100 – a two-day walking challenge in the Cairngorms National Park, home to the highest mountain range in the UK – just four weeks before this year’s event!
Karen and Francesca express their gratitude to all participants and supporters for making the event such a success, whilst the charity wishes to send a huge thank you to them for all their hard work.
The Well Wellow 10K was sponsored by the Wellow Podiatry Clinic & Fitness Centre who kindly donated a free sports massage to one lucky participant who was picked out at random by the first finisher of the adult race on the day. Big thanks also to New Forest Wealth Management who paid for the medals and The Lamb Inn who donated the proceeds of their recent quiz night.
