While most of their friends spent their Easter Break enjoying chocolate eggs, 11-year-olds Charlotte and Grace completed their huge sponsored swimming challenge, covering the 21 miles (34,000 metres or 1360 lengths!) required to complete a cross channel swim to France!
In just eight days the two young swimmers completed the challenge at the Mid Devon Leisure Centre who generously sponsored the pool time.
We caught up with them shortly after they completed the challenge to find out what motivated the two of them, Charlotte said “Grace and I have both known close friends and family that have been impacted by these diseases and passionately want to do something to support them. So we have decided to do a sponsored swim.”
Between them, Charlotte and Grace’s fabulous efforts raised over £1800 which was split between Against Breast Cancer and Diabetes UK. The money sent to Against Breast Cancer allows us to continue our research into secondary spread breast cancer, the main cause of breast cancer related deaths.
If you would like to donate then you still can via the girls’ Just Giving page. You can also buy the microfibre sports towel we sent to them for their challenge on our online shop.
