A massive thank you to our incredible supporter Bridie for sharing her amazing 100,000 Step Challenge on our ABC Sports Hub.
Tennis coach Bridie took on her 100,000 step challenge to raise funds for Against Breast Cancer at the start of May. Beginning at 4am, she set out walking across London, not stopping until she reached her goal that evening. We caught up with Bridie online afterwards to understand what motivated her to undertake her epic 100,000 step challenge;
“I discovered one of my friends was diagnosed with breast cancer just before coming into lockdown. After talking to her about it I was amazed to see how she remained so positive, lockdown has been difficult enough – but on top of this most people would be forgiven for breaking down, but she just doesn’t stop with her high spirits and positivity.
I’ve discovered how hard lockdown has been for all cancer patients. Treatments, appointments have come to a halt and that’s why I wanted to do something for Against Breast Cancer.
I started my 100,000 step challenge JustGiving page only a week before and managed to raise over £5,000 including gift aid! The amount of messages I got from friends, colleagues and club members saying how cancer has impacted their lives was really shocking, they described how they have lost mothers, sisters, aunties and or are going through treatment themselves .
The cause hit home to so many people, and it’s why it made this challenge so much easier for me to complete – knowing I had so many people supporting this great charity.”
You have inspired us all Bridie, and we cannot thank you enough.
