Thank you to everyone involved at Cisco UK Cancer Support Network for supporting Against Breast Cancer throughout 2018 and in the process raising enough to fund an additional PhD researcher for a year.
Over the course of twelve months Cisco UK staff tirelessly raised money through Christmas events, Cake sales, Pancake Day, Spring Clearance, Breast Tea Ever and even donated money during their Mid-Year Sales conference. One member of staff, Maciek Konstantynowicz even ran the London Marathon in the sweltering heat! Not to mention, all of the recycling of bras, and Professor Max Crispin talking at Cisco’s Connected Women event.
An amazing amount of work which resulted in raising a staggering £24,477!
Particular thanks must go to the UK Site Leads; Pete Hall, Mick Routledge, Tania Day, Niki Collins, Kathryn Baddeley, Kairen Lang, Claire Bishop, Dan Hughes and Jeannie Brice. Also their support team of Linda Sergides, Lesley Paulson, and everyone that donated, contributed or took part in any of the events.
A final thank you to Phil Wolfenden, the EMEAR Executive Sponsor of the Cancer Support Network and to Howard Pyrett for presenting and delivering to us with the largest cheque we’ve ever seen!
The money raised is funding our new PhD Student – Hannah Smith at the University of Southampton. Known as the ABC/Cisco Doctoral student, Hannah’s 3-year project entails adapting the antibody effector function of therapeutic antibodies with the aim of improving therapy for the treatment of secondary breast cancer.
