The Eskdale Book Club held a Christmas fayre in December, raising a fantastic £392.84 for Against Breast Cancer.
Charlotte Carlin founded the Eskdale Book Club in January 2021 to bring people together via Zoom during lockdown. Since being able to meet in person they now have up to 20 members who organise book sales and most recently a Christmas fayre at Eskdale Village Hall.
Members of the book club decided to raise money for Against Breast Cancer, saying that “many family members and close friends have been affected by breast cancer, so it was a cause very close to all our hearts.” They are also fundraising for the village hall, which is at risk of closure.
The fayre had arts and crafts stalls, jewellery, candles, tombola, and festive music with Valley Voices. Woody’s Woolies, who make felted sheep using their own sheep’s wool, also kindly made pink ones to sell on the day.
The day was a huge success which brought the community together and lots of feel-good vibes were had by all who attended.
Everyone at Against Breast Cancer would like to say a huge thank you to Charlotte and the book club for supporting our charity and to everyone involved who gave so very generously.
