The Jiveathon has become a special event to Against Breast Cancer. Our staff so look forward to getting our Dancing shoes on and joining the wonderful Coralie and friends for a 12-hour Jive. Unfortunately, this year the date had to be postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
However, that did not stop Coralie. Determined to continue her support of our vital research and looking for creative ways to fundraise, Coralie joined forces with Chris and Amy, two fantastic dance teachers who put on a virtual jive class via their Facebook page to raise funds for ABC.
With a target to raise £500 the Jive + team went above and beyond raising an amazing £799!
The team were keen to make a difference and decided that the funds should support Priyanka Hirani. Priyanka is a PHD student working with Dr Oliver Pearce at Barts Cancer Institute where she is researching new techniques to improve immunotherapy response for triple negative breast cancer patients. The Jive + team were also very happy to hear our research team at the University of Southampton have been involved in research towards a Coronavirus vaccine.
We are so grateful for Coralie and the Jive + teams’ continuous commitment to supporting ABCs vital research into secondary breast cancer. We have our dancing shoes at the ready for the Jiveathon later this year!
