This is exactly what Against Breast Cancer supporter, Jos McLaren ponders in her incredibly poignant song, ‘The One Thing I Would Do’.
Throughout the song, Jos sings about the people in her life with whom she wants to spend her days with, as well as the places and pastimes that they might enjoy, following her diagnosis of secondary spread breast cancer.
Jos was inspired to write the song after she overheard people saying what they might do, which included things like quitting work tomorrow, travelling the world and spending all their money. Jos realised that for her, it is about spending quality time, and making memories with the people she loves; her friends and family.
‘We were so moved when we heard this song and learned about Jos’ story, that we knew that this song needed to be shared far and wide with other people affected by breast cancer, and those who can benefit from raised awareness.’ said Bryony Jones from Against Breast Cancer.
Together with Jos, we created the idea of a social media awareness campaign on TikTok. The aim is simple – to use Jos’ song to show the one thing that you would do, if you had been told the same news as Jos. Where would you go, what would you do and who would you be with?
Head on over to TikTok to show your support for Jos, and everyone diagnosed with secondary spread breast cancer. You can help us raise awareness of the importance of continued research into earlier detection, prevention and improved therapies.
All you need to do is:
- Record a video that shows the one thing you would do (this could be anything you would want to do, such as being with friends and family, playing games, eating ice cream, going on a trip)
- Choose ‘The One Thing I Would Do’ by Jos McLaren as the sound for the post
- Tag @againstbc
- Caption your post ‘The One Thing I Would Do’
- Encourage your friends and family to follow @againstbc and share the one thing they would do too
